Miller left Gehry Partners LLP to attend Columbia Business School in New York. He was a teaching assistant for the university's Greenhouse Entrepreneurship and Launching New Ventures programs. During this time, he had the idea to start a healthcare company that would help employees understand and utilize flexible spending accounts (FSA). As Miller discovered while working at Gehry Partners LLC, many employees didn't understand how an FSA operated and were forfeiting the potential to fund healthcare-related expenses without paying taxes on the revenue utilized for this reason.

The Odyssey Global MBA Award for Best Entrepreneurial Business Idea went to Jeremy Miller. Jeremy Miller's new startup was funded in part by the school's Lang Fund and other Angel investors. "Simplifying the US tax-free healthcare market and helping regular Americans and companies benefit better from workplace benefits, wellness, and health spending initiatives," says Health-E Commerce. The company's FSA store opened the same year to help people understand their options. In addition to having the most comprehensive list of FSA-eligible products, it was the first e-commerce site to focus only on FSA-e

Jeremy Miller launched the HSA store in 2015. The store is meant to help HSA holders identify HSA-eligible products quickly, maximize health savings, and use HSA funds for common healthcare needs. Caring Mill is a 2017 private-label health and wellness product line. Each purchase helps the Children's Health Fund deliver great healthcare to underprivileged children. The store was the first to allow Americans to donate tax-free money to a charity. Shopping for health-related things with Wellness Rewards is now possible with Well Deserved. Medicare OTC Store is a specialized platform designed to make shopping for products covered by Medicare Advantage plans' supplemental OTC benefits easier for seniors.

Health-E Commerce is a huge hit. It has over 200,000 customers. Jeremy Miller was named 2018 EY Entrepreneur of the Year for his outstanding business strategy. From 2016 to 2020, his company got Deloitte Technology Fast 500 Awards for being one of the fastest growing in the US.

Creating Community and Charity

​

Jeremy Miller has always been charitable. He not only donates to Save the Children, American Cancer Society, Relay for Life Manhattan, and Children's Health Fund, but also volunteers.

​

Jeremy Miller has also gone out of his way to make his company a great place to work. Employees of Health-E Commerce have access to a 401(k) plan, flexible spending and health savings accounts, and paid time off. For staff to unwind and bond, the company's Culture Committee organizes events like paint parties and boat cruises. The company has been named one of Crain's Best Places to Work in NYC for three years running.
